While having lunch with his colleagues, Johny’s mobile rang. It was Alina Francis, Mathew’s class teacher. Johny answered, “Hello Sir, this is Alina Francis, Mathew John's class teacher. Mathew has been selected for the national level of the International Mathematics Olympiad. The school wants to provide him with special coaching to help him clear the next round. However, after discussing it with Mathew, he is not agreeing with what the principal is suggesting. Please have a discussion with Mathew.” Johny assured Alina Francis that he would talk with Mathew and convince him to agree to the coaching.
Mathew John is 14 years old and in ninth grade. He is fair and highly handsome, unlike his parents and Mary, who are dark-complexioned. He is always interested in listening to English music that too at a very loud volume, solving very difficult puzzles and mathematical problems, and reading psychological literature. Sometimes, after reading, he behaves as though he is a character from the book. His character is unpredictable, unlike Johny, Tresa, or Mary. Because he behaves just like the character he recently read.
Mary is 13 years old, dark-skinned, and short, with curly, unruly hair that is very difficult to tie. However, as per the school uniform requirements, she has to tie her hair on both sides, which takes almost half an hour. Mary and Tresa look as though they are twin sisters. Both of them have a great talent for singing and are part of the church choir. Tresa always sings Christian religious songs while at home, especially during cooking or in her spare time.
Johny left the office by 6:30. In between, he called Tresa, but she had already left the office and was shopping at the nearby local market. It was almost their daily routine—she would leave early from the office, and both of them would meet at the local grocery market or the local fish market. After shopping, they would reach home together by 7:30. Janaki, their part-time maid, used to come home by 4:30, prepare the evening meal, and do the basic cleaning before leaving by 7. When Tresa and Johny reached home , Stephan was waiting for them, watching intently. On the way, Tresa and Johny had a discussion about Aleena teacher’s conversation. Tresa didn’t really know how to convince Mathew about the special coaching the school was going to provide.
