Chapter Three

Tresa entered the home, patting Stephan. “Baby, have you had your dinner?” Stephan made some emotional sounds, showing his love, and started nuzzling her feet, wagging his tail and barking in between.

“Mama,” Mary jumped into the scene. “How was the day?” Mary asked.

Mary replied, “It was just cool as usual. Aha, we got our biology answer sheets... but my marks are a bit pathetic.” Mary was clearly not happy.

“How much did you get? You already told me, right? You couldn’t complete the diagram or something like that, isn’t it?” her mother asked.

“Yeah, Mama. I got 45 out of 50. I got one answer wrong and didn’t have time to draw the diagram, which was worth 4 marks. The sad thing is, Neelima got 50.”

Tresa smiled and consoled her, “Hey babe, don’t take it seriously. It’s just a class test. Next time, manage your time a bit better and you’ll finish it on time.”

By this time, Tresa had reached Mathew’s room. English rap music could be heard from the beginning of the street itself. If Mary, Tresa, or anyone asked him to lower the volume, he would turn it up even more. So, no one dared to mention the irritating sound.
